Sound Educational approach Effective training relies on effective teaching of suitable content.
The BikeWise curriculum and instructor training courses are developed by co-founder, Patrick, a qualified and experienced Teacher with a wealth of cycling experience. All BikeWise Instructors receive in-house training in effective teaching methods.
Importantly, BikeWise training groups are kept small and are supervised by two instructors so that all participants can learn in a secure environment whilst receiving instant and accurate feedback about their performance in realistic on-street scenarios.
Safety and Risk Management Skill development and fun are the main focus of our activities although safety underpins everything we do. We have embedded the principles of safety and risk management into everything from bike maintenance to group riding on inner city streets. Our real strengths arise from the experience of our instructors and the comprehensive design and professional delivery of the course that ensures all risks are minimised.
Progressive Curriculum The ability to cycle safely and confidently on public roads and cycle-ways is a complex task made up of many different skills and knowledge. Following the world’s best practice UK model we have split the course into separate levels aimed at steadily building a riders skill and confidence before progressing to the next level. Broadly speaking there are three levels of training: 1.Bicycle control skills - Off street 2.Beginning to ride on the road - Suburban streets and cycleways 3.Intermediate - Busier streets Whilst the level of training required is negotiated between BikeWise and Client our instructors are well versed in assessing participant ability and providing training to their specific developmental level
